Assistant Chief Scott F. Wilkes, AAS, BS, MS, MSgt (Ret) is a 28-year veteran who has served as a career, volunteer and military firefighter, inspector, officer, dispatcher, health & safety officer and medic. Wilkes began his fire service in Delaware in 1990 and has also volunteered for several companies in New Jersey, Maryland and Virginia. Chief Wilkes spent two decades in the US Air Force as an Chief Aeromedical Technician and a Fire Protection Specialist deploying 12 times to Somalia, Afghanistan and Iraq over a 24-year career. Wilkes graduated from Grand Canyon University where he earned a MS in Leadership with Emphasis on Disaster Preparedness and Executive Fire Leadership, also earned a BS in Fire Science and Management from Kaplan University and an AAS in Allied Health Services from the Community College of the Air Force. Wilkes is certified as a Fire Officer IV, Fire Inspector III, Fire Instructor III, Fire Investigator I, Haz Mat Tech and IC, Public Information Officer, and Health & Safety Officer.
